Originally when The Pink Giraffe first opened in 1998, it was solely a vegetarian restaurant. The establishment associated the Giraffe with the restaurant name, as the animal is a vegetarian and Pink was also added into the restaurant name because it is the owner's favourite colour! Located in the centre of Oxford, it is a must visit after a hard days' shopping, sight seeing or working! A minute's brisk walk from Oxford's Magdalen Bridge is where The Pink Giraffe can be found, a cosy Chinese restaurant serving all the usual favourites with a twist of Japanese, Thai, Cantonese and Szechwan flavour in various dishes. A fusion of oriental taste can be found in the restaurant's menu as the chefs are from China - Hong Kong and Malaysia, where a wide range of savoury, spicy and sweet dishes have many different forms of cooking techniques. Prior to the opening of The Pink Giraffe, the owner wanted to create something very special. The Pink Giraffe was to be a destination restaurant that was truly unique where a differential vegetarian menu was to be of paramount importance! Since then, The Pink Giraffe have branched out into catering for other guests apart from just vegetarians and have included meat, fish & poultry into the menu, although the vegetarian roots are certainly not forgotten, as the restaurant is always trying to improve and expand the different variety of vegetarian dishes! The vegetarian menu not only comprises of the usual vegetable dishes, but of Soya meats too!
